Deputy Mayor invites actress Charlize Theron to Budapest

The deputy mayor of Budapest has invited Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron to Budapest in reaction to press reports about the actress placing the Hungarian capital in Turkey, the mayor's office said.

Imre Ikvai-Szabo has sent a letter to the South African actress and former fashion model, inviting her for an all-expense-paid weekend visit to Budapest.

The British tabloid Daily Mail has reported that in a recent interview, Theron said she had "adored Turkey … and its capital, Budapest". The 32-year-old actress talked about her experiences backpacking in Europe with her boyfriend and mentioned Budapest three times by name.

In the letter, Ikvai-Szabo thanked Theron for speaking highly of Budapest but said he wished she would talk about the city based on her own observations.
